Food and Loathing Restaurant Guide -- Ep. 11: Craft Beer in Vegas
During the top of the show, I shared my experiences dining at the recently renamed Nomad Library, followed by Brian Newman’s After Dark show. (I also whined a little about not getting a Louis XIII Cognac.)
A bit later, I shared an interview with Marienna Mercer Boarini about the cocktails she’s created for Overlook Lounge in Wynn Las Vegas.
I shared an interview with Astronomy Aleworks’ Matt Brady, about the Nevada Beer Bash in The Front Yard at Ellis Island.
And Rich discussed a rather frightening product called Baozza.
For our discussion of the Las Vegas craft beer scene, we
headed to Crafthaus Brewery’s tasting room in the Henderson Booze District. We
were joined for that segment by Crafthaus’ Dave Forrest and Las Vegas’ top beer
journalist, Bob Barnes, who discussed the history and the state of the scene with us while we all enjoyed some flights of Crafthaus.
That discussion included mentions of Craftahus’ Booze District neighbors: Grape Expectations, Vegas Valley Winery, Bad Beat Brewing, Astronomy Aleworks and the Las Vegas Distillery.
We also discussed some Arts District businesses, including
Garagiste Wine Bar, Esther’s Kitchen, Tacotarian, Able Baker Brewing, HUDLBrewing Company, Nevada Brew Works, Soul Belly BBQ, Hop Nuts Brewing, VelveteenRabbit, ReBar, Yu-Or-Mi Sushi, and Cream Me Ice Creamery.
Bob recommended a few Beer Festivals to mark on your
calendar:
September 25 -- Crafthaus 7th Anniversary
October 16 – The Southern Nevada Brewers Guild will throw a festival on Henderson's Water Street
October 16 – Motley Brews Downtown Brew Fest at the Downtown Government Center
October 30 -- Big Dog’s Autumn Beer Festival
In this episode’s final segment, we also discussed the Life is Beautiful culinary lineup.
I also offered a review on a THC-infused Cinnamon Toast
cereal bar from Exhale.
And I gave some info on an edibles dinner being hosted by
Stacey Dougan – info available at SecretGather.com (password on the podcast).
